Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is an 8-week program. It provides participants with intensive training in mindfulness meditation and movement practices, and helps them integrate the teachings into daily life.
MBSR has over 40 years of research demonstrating positive outcomes associated with increased self-awareness and emotional and attentional regulation. Research also demonstrates reductions in symptoms of anxiety, depression and chronic pain, along with positive changes in risk factors that may lead to more serious chronic conditions.
Throughout the program participants systematically work with the challenges of everyday life, learning to:
Cope more effectively with stressful situations, responding rather than reacting
Manage and often reduce physical and emotional discomfort
Approach life with more composure, understanding and joy
Be present and appreciate the simple pleasures of everyday life
Course Structure
The Live Online MBSR program consists of:
Orientation (2 hrs, required for enrollment), scheduled for one or two weeks before your class
Eight weekly classes, 2 ½ hrs each (31 hours of direct instruction)
Instruction in formal and informal MBSR meditation practices
Gentle stretching and mindful yoga
Structured group dialogue
One All-Day class on a Saturday or Sunday
Daily home practice assignments for 45-60 minutes each day
Online resource materials, included guided meditations.
The opportunity for one-on-one check-ins with the instructor throughout the course
Class sizes are limited to facilitate group connection and conversation. A computer and high-speed internet connection are required. Mobile devices such as phones and tablets are not recommended.
PROGRAM FEE: $375*
*All are welcome and I am committed to making this course available. In the spirit of generosity, I offer scholarships to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to take an MBSR course. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must commit to attendance at all class sessions including the all-day intensive retreat.
